The hotel offers clean and beautifully furnished rooms, but the constant illumination might disturb those who prefer darkness for sleep. The service is excellent, with friendly and helpful staff. The location is perfect for a mid-way stop, providing a relaxing atmosphere by a real log fire in a 15th-century hall. The dining experience is pleasant with minor hiccups like fruit salad running out. The facilities are well-maintained.

Our Golden Wedding / 70th Birthday celebrations were made cozy and comfortable in the traditionally decorated suite, despite the small size. The hotel offers a charming ambiance with its up-and-down corridor layout, perfect for a special occasion.

Rooms

The suite was decorated and furnished traditionally but felt very comfortable for our celebrations, even though it was on the small side. The up-and-down corridor added to the charm.

The hotel's location was ideal for exploring the local area, with unexpected views of the old hall. It was a perfect stopover midway and conveniently close to Clithroe and the grouse moors.

The dining experience was enjoyable, and both the evening meal and breakfast were satisfactory, although the availability of fresh fruit salad was limited. The locally caught fish was a highlight.

The hotel had lovely views over the countryside and was beautifully furnished and immaculate, providing very comfortable rooms. However, there were 2 major flaws as our room was directly over the function room with minimal sound insulation, making us hear and feel the sounds from the party below.

The rooms were beautifully furnished, immaculate, and very comfortable despite the major flaw of being directly over the function room with minimal sound insulation.

The service was excellent, with very friendly and helpful staff. However, there was a minor issue with rearranging pastries and muffins without tongs, which could be improved for hygiene reasons.
Location

The location offered lovely views over the countryside and was superb as a stopover midway on our way to the Lakes. However, there were occasional disturbances such as screaming children in the surroundings.
Dining

The dining experience was good with a variety of choices, but there were some instances of items running out like the fresh fruit salad. Overall, the quality was high.
